François Gazay was born in the Champagne region of France (Europe) in 1937, of French parents. He is married and has 3 children and 8 grandchildren. He is fluent in French, and has studied English and German languages.

In the early sixties, he did a two-year national service in the Engineers, mainly in North Africa (Atlas Mountains) where he built roads and bridges.

At the beginning of his career he worked as an electronics engineer at the Research Laboratory of SEPR (French Spatial Research), then he went into the oil prospecting industry at the Instrumentation Group of Schlumberger Industries.

In the late sixties, he went into the electronic and computer industry at the Techniques & Products Group, a leading French company in the hi-tech import-export business with subsidiaries in Europe and USA. As General Marketing Manager of the Group, he was in relation with several hi-tech foreign companies such as Intel, Amd, Motorola, Texas Instruments, Fairchild, Raychem, Seiko, and actively involved in the introduction of new microprocessors, memories, silicon chips, electronic circuitry, information technology and automated systems in France and Europe.

In the early nineties, he founded an electronic publishing house specialized in the Environmental Protection Surveys and Instrumentation. He was actively involved in the Environmental Protection, Risks and Safety activities in cooperation with the departments of French Ministries of Industry and Environment. At this time he worked with various local and foreign companies specialized in these fields, such as Apave, Générale des Eaux, Neotronics, Omega Electronics, Newport Electronics.

Mr. Gazay wrote and published several popular books, works, articles and applications notes on electronic and computer technology during his professional life. He has extensive experience in electronic publishing, digital image processing, computer programming, electronic instrumentation and environmental protection matters.

Mr. Gazay has linked his name to the research on the Shroud of Turin since circa 1990. He published in 1997 a first historic and scientific investigation CD-ROM in French language on this subject, followed by an English and Spanish Versions in an easy-to-use PC-compatible format.

The investigation represents several years of « in-situ » research on the official or secret travels of the Shroud (or Mandylion), in Greece, Cyprus, Istanbul, through the Midle East, in France and Italy. Mr. Gazay has completed his personnal research by about 2 years of bibliographic research on the Web. The various scientific and historic documents included in this CD-ROM are issued from this research.

Next July, with the support of the association working for the renovation of « Sainte Marie du Menez-Hom » chapel and the Brittany Tourist Office, François Gazay gives a video-conference of about 2-hours on a stone Mandylion he found in Brittany and on its relations with the Turin Shroud and the Templar Knights.

He is an active member of the Shroud Science Group since 2003. In 2004, he approached the Monks of Solesmes Abbey and the Prioress of Meaux Carmel about a scientific analysis to be organised by this Group on a 19th century miracle.

Important Note:
Many degrees, schools, and business activities have no equivalent outside France. We tried to give, whenever possible, both the French name and what would corresponding to it in the American education and business systems.
